A. Love the Lord & keep the Heavenly vision:MAT 6:21. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. MAT 6:24. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. COL 2:6. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: COL 2:7. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. COL 3:1. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. COL 3:2. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. HEB 12:2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. HEB 12:3. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. B. Remember that serving Jesus is worth it all:1COR 15:58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. GAL 6:9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. HEB 10:35. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. HEB 11:26. Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. HEB 11:27. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. JAM 1:12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 2TI 4:7. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2TI 4:8. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. REV 3:11. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 2CO 4:16. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2CO 4:17. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 2CO 4:18. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. REV 2:26. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: REV 2:27. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. REV 2:28. And I will give him the morning star. C. Trust the Lord to keep you faithful:PSA 17:5. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. PSA 26:1. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide. D. Hide the Word in your heart:PSA 119:9. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. PSA 119:11. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. PSA 37:31. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. PSA 119:165. Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. 2TH 2:15. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 2PE 1:4. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. E. Forsake daydreaming & vain thoughts:PSA 119:113. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. 2CO 10:5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; PHI 4:8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. F. Have conviction; know what you believe:1KI 18:21. And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. JOH 6:67. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? JOH 6:68. Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. ACT 20:24. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. ROM 14:5. One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 2PE 1:10. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: G. Receive correction & reproof:PSA 141:5. Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities. PRO 6:23. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: PRO 10:17. He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth. PRO 27:5. Open rebuke is better than secret love. PRO 27:6. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. HEB 3:13. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. HEB 12:5. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: HEB 12:6. For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. HEB 12:7. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? HEB 12:8. But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. HEB 12:9. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? HEB 12:10. For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. HEB 12:11. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. HEB 12:12. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; HEB 12:13. And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. H. Confess your problems & sins:PRO 28:13. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. HEB 12:1. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, JAM 5:16. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. JOB 11:14. If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles. 1JO 1:8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1JO 1:9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1JO 1:10. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. I. Withdraw yourself from those who turn away from the truth:PSA 1:1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. PSA 1:2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. PSA 119:63. I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. PRO 13:20. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. ROM 16:17. Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. ROM 16:18. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. EPH 5:11. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 2TH 3:6. Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 1TIM 6:3. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 1TIM 6:4. He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 1TIM 6:5. Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 2PE 3:17. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. EXO 23:2. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: PRO 1:10. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. PRO 1:15. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: J. Love not the world:ROM 12:2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. GAL 6:14. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 2TI 2:4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 1JO 2:15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. COL 3:2. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 1COR 7:31. And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. K. Endure hardships:PSA 44:14. Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. PSA 44:15. My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, PSA 44:16. For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger. PSA 44:17. All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. PSA 44:18. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; 2TI 2:3. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. HEB 11:24. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; HEB 11:25. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; HEB 12:1. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, HEB 12:2. L. Remember how much you've already endured:GAL 3:4. Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. HEB 10:32. But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; HEB 6:11. And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: M. Give up personal desires endure temptations:LUK 9:23. And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. LUK 9:24. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. LUK 9:25. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 1COR 9:27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. PHI 3:7. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. PHI 3:8. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, LUK 14:33. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. 1TIM 6:10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1TIM 6:11. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. JAM 1:12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 1PE 2:11. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; N. Be thankful & content:PHI 4:11. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 1TH 5:18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1TIM 6:6. But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1TIM 6:7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1TIM 6:8. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. PRO 15:16. Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith. ECC 6:9. Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit. HEB 13:5. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. O. Forget your worldly past:PSA 45:10. Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; LUK 9:60. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. PHI 3:13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, PHI 3:14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 1PE 4:2. That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 1PE 4:3. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: P. Be thankful for what He's delivered you from:PSA 40:2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Q. Consider what backsliding leads to:PRO 5:8. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: PRO 5:9. Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: PRO 5:10. Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; PRO 5:11. And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, PRO 5:12. And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; PRO 5:13. And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! PRO 13:15. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. PRO 21:16. The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. EZE 3:20. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. LUK 17:32. Remember Lot's wife. 1COR 3:11. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1COR 3:12. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 1COR 3:13. Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1COR 3:14. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1COR 3:15. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. GAL 4:9. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 2PE 2:20. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. PSA 106:15. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. EZE 18:24. But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. GAL 6:7. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. GAL 6:8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. REV 3:11. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. |
