MAT 16:25. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

LUK 14:26. If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

MAT 6:21. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

LUK 9:59. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

LUK 9:61. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

B. Discipleship--A life of death to self:

MAT 6:33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

MAT 10:38. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

MAT 16:24. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

MAR 10:21. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

JOH 12:24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

JOH 12:25. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
