A. Discipleship a privilege:PSA 4:3. But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. MAT 22:14. For many are called, but few are chosen. PHI 3:14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 2TIM 1:9. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, MAT 11:25. At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. MAT 13:16. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. MAT 13:17. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. LUK 8:10. And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. B. Rewards for serving Jesus:MAT 10:39. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. MAT 19:27. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? MAT 19:28. And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. MAT 19:29. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. MAR 10:28. Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. MAR 10:29. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, MAR 10:30. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. LUK 12:33. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. JOH 12:26. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. 1COR 2:9. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. MAT 5:10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. MAT 5:11. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. MAT 5:12. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. MAT 16:25. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. MAT 16:27. For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. JOH 12:25. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 2TIM 2:12. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: C. Faithful overcomers rewarded:REV 2:26. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: REV 2:27. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. REV 2:28. And I will give him the morning star. REV 3:21. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. MAT 25:14. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. MAT 25:15. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. MAT 25:16. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. MAT 25:17. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. MAT 25:18. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. MAT 25:19. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. MAT 25:20. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. MAT 25:21. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. MAT 25:22. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. MAT 25:23. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. MAT 25:24. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: MAT 25:25. And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. MAT 25:26. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: MAT 25:27. Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. MAT 25:28. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. MAT 25:29. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. LUK 12:42. And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? LUK 12:43. Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. LUK 12:44. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. LUK 12:35. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; LUK 12:36. And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. LUK 12:37. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. LUK 12:38. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. LUK 19:12. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. LUK 19:13. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. LUK 19:14. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. LUK 19:15. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. LUK 19:16. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. LUK 19:17. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. LUK 19:18. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. LUK 19:19. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. LUK 19:20. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: LUK 19:21. For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. LUK 19:22. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: LUK 19:23. Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? LUK 19:24. And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. LUK 19:25. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) LUK 19:26. For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. |
