6. The only One you should fear is God: |

A. We are commanded to fear (reverence) God:
JOS 24:14. Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
PSA 19:9. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
PRO 3:7. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
ECC 12:13. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
ISA 8:12. Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
ISA 8:13. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
ISA 57:11. And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?
LUK 12:4. And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
LUK 12:5. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
HEB 10:31. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
MAT 10:28. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
B. God's blessings on them that fear Him:
PSA 25:12. What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
PSA 31:19. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
PSA 34:9. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
PSA 103:13. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
PSA 147:11. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
PRO 1:7. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
PRO 9:10. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
PRO 14:26. In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
MAL 4:2. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
LUK 1:50. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
ACT 10:35. But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
REV 11:18. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
