A. We must be born of & made alive by the Spirit:JOH 16:8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: JOH 16:9. Of sin, because they believe not on me; JOH 3:5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. JOH 3:6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. JOH 3:7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. JOH 3:8. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. JOH 6:63. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. TIT 3:5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 2TH 2:13. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: EPH 2:1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; B. A measure of God's Spirit is given to us when we're saved:2COR 1:22. Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. EPH 1:13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, EPH 1:14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. EPH 4:30. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. C. The Holy Spirit assures us that we are saved:ROM 8:16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 1JOH 3:24. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1JOH 4:13. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. D. The Holy Spirit testifies Jesus is the truth; Blasphemy against the Spirit means rejecting the Spirit's witness:JOH 15:26. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: JOH 16:14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. MAR 3:28. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: MAR 3:29. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. MAT 12:31. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. MAT 12:32. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. |
