How to Find the Will of God


1. The prerequisite: Submit your will to the Lord:

  • A. Seek His will not your own:

    LUK 22:42. Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

    JOH 5:30. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

    JOH 6:38. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

    PSA 37:5. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

    B. Seek & trust the Lord:

    PRO 3:6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    PSA 143:10. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

    COL 1:9. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

    C. Sincerely desire to do God's will:

    PSA 40:8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

    MAT 6:10. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

    JOH 4:34. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

    EPH 6:6. Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

    D. As you obey Him He will reveal His will to you:

    HOS 6:3. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

    MAR 4:24. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

    MAR 4:25. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

    JOH 7:17. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

    ROM 12:1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

    ROM 12:2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
