And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; 2TIM 3:16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: DEU 29:29. The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. PSA 119:128. These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 1TIM 3:15. But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. B. As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. ISA 28:10. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: LUK 10:25. And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? LUK 10:26. He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? D. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 2TIM 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. E. When a verse speaks specifically directly to you:PSA 103:20. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. PSA 119:130. And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. ACT 8:32. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: ACT 8:33. In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. ACT 8:34. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? ACT 8:35. Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. |
