A. A vision is when God flashes a picture in your mind's eye:NUM 12:6. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. NUM 24:4. He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: EZE 1:1. Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. HOS 12:10. I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets. JOE 2:28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: ACT 10:9. On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: ACT 10:10. And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, ACT 10:11. And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. 1KI 22:20. And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persude him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. 1KI 22:23. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. EZE 1:1. DAN 10:7. And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. ZEC 1:7. Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, ZEC 1:8. I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white. C. New Testament examples:LUK 1:11. And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. LUK 1:12. There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, ACT 10:2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. ACT 10:3. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. ACT 10:4. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. ACT 10:5. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: ACT 10:6. He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. ACT 10:15. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. ACT 10:16. This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. ACT 16:9. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. ACT 18:9. Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: ACT 18:10. For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. D. Beware of false visions:JER 14:14. Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. JER 23:16. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. LAM 2:14. Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment. |
