The Law of God

1. Salvation is purely by grace not works:
PreviousNext

ROM 3:28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

EPH 2:8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

EPH 2:9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

TIT 3:5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

A. Salvation is not partly by grace & partly by good works:

ROM 11:6. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

B. Salvation was always by grace even in the Old Testament:

GEN 6:8. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

GEN 15:6. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

ROM 4:3. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

ROM 4:5. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

ROM 4:6. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

ROM 4:7. Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

ROM 4:8. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

ROM 4:21. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

ROM 4:22. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

HAB 2:4. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

HEB 11:13. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

C. Scrupulously keeping the Mosaic law never saved anyone:

JOH 1:17. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

ROM 3:20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

ROM 9:31. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

GAL 2:16. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

GAL 3:11. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

HEB 7:19. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
