A. God loves us so we should love one another:JOH 13:34. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. EPH 5:2. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 1JOH 4:7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1JOH 4:11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1JOH 5:1. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. B. God gives us love to love others:ROM 5:5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. GAL 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 1TH 3:12. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: 1TH 4:9. But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. 2TH 3:5. And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 2TIM 1:7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. EPH 6:23. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. C. To love is the greatest law of God:MAR 12:33. And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. LUK 10:25. And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? LUK 10:27. And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. LUK 10:28. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. GAL 5:14. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. D. Love is the most important virtue:1COR 13:13. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1COR 13:2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. GAL 5:6. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. EPH 3:17. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, EPH 3:19. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. COL 3:14. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. REV 2:3. And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. REV 2:4. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. EPH 1:15. Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, EPH 1:16. Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; COL 1:3. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, COL 1:4. Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, PHM 1:5. Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; E. Love one another fervently:1TH 3:12. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: 1PE 1:22. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 1PE 4:8. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. F. Love sincerely & genuinely:JDG 16:15. And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth. ROM 12:9. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 1PE 1:22. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 2COR 6:6. By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 2COR 8:8. I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love. PHI 1:9. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; PHI 1:10. That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. G. The benefits that loving others brings us:JOH 13:35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. 2COR 13:11. Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. EPH 3:17. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, EPH 3:18. May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; EPH 3:19. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 1JOH 2:10. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1JOH 3:14. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1JOH 4:7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1JOH 4:12. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1JOH 2:5. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1JOH 4:16. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
