A. God has ordained & blessed marriage:GEN 2:18. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. PRO 5:18. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. PRO 18:22. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. ECC 9:9. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. MAT 19:4. And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, MAT 19:5. And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? B. Marriage is the solution to many problems:1COR 7:2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 1COR 7:9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 1TIM 5:14. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. C. It gives strength & companionship:GEN 2:18. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. ECC 4:9. Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. ECC 4:10. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. ECC 4:11. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? 1PE 3:7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. D. Marriage is a commitment:EZE 16:8. Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine. HOS 2:19. And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. HOS 2:20. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD. |
