A. Harmony is important to a Christian marriage:COL 2:2. That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 1TIM 3:4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 1TIM 3:5. (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 1PE 3:7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1PE 4:8. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. TIT 2:5. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. B. Arguments should be avoided:PRO 17:9. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. PRO 17:14. The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with. PRO 21:19. It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman. PRO 25:24. It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house. PRO 27:15. A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike. PRO 19:13. A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. PHI 2:3. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. COL 3:13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 1PE 3:9. Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. C.
