A. God's power is much greater than the devil's:JO1 4:4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. LUK 10:17. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. LUK 10:19. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. PHI 2:9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: PHI 2:10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; PHI 2:11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. JAM 2:19. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. ZEC 3:2. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? B. Jesus defeated the devil:JO1 3:8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. HEB 2:14. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; COL 2:15. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. LUK 10:18. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. C. Jesus' power to exorcise (cast out) demons:MAT 8:16. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: MAT 9:32. As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. MAT 9:33. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. MAT 12:22. Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. MAT 12:28. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. MAR 1:34. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. MAR 1:39. And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. LUK 4:33. And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, LUK 4:34. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. LUK 4:35. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. LUK 4:36. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. LUK 9:42. And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. LUK 8:27. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. LUK 8:28. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. LUK 8:29. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) LUK 8:30. And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. LUK 8:31. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. LUK 8:32. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. LUK 8:33. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. MAR 5:1. And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. MAR 5:2. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, MAR 5:3. Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: MAR 5:4. Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. MAR 5:5. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. MAR 5:6. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, MAR 5:7. And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. MAR 5:8. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. MAR 5:9. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. MAR 5:10. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. MAR 5:11. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. MAR 5:12. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. MAR 5:13. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. MAR 5:14. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. MAR 5:15. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. ACT 10:38. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. MAR 7:25. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: MAR 7:26. The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. MAR 7:27. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. MAR 7:28. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. MAR 7:29. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. MAR 7:30. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. MAR 9:17. And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; MAR 9:18. And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. MAR 9:19. He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. MAR 9:20. And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. MAR 9:21. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. MAR 9:22. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. MAR 9:23. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. MAR 9:24. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. MAR 9:25. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. MAR 9:26. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. MAR 9:27. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. D. Jesus gave His disciples power over the devil:MAT 10:1. And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. LUK 9:1. Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. ACT 5:16. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. ROM 16:20. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. ACT 8:6. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. ACT 8:7. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. ACT 19:11. And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: ACT 19:12. So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. ACT 26:17. Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, ACT 26:18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. E. Jesus gives all believers power over the devil, including you:MAR 16:17. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; LUK 9:49. And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. LUK 9:50. And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. JOH 14:12. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. JO1 2:14. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. |
