A. Satan tempts men to sin:GEN 3:1. Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? GEN 3:2. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: GEN 3:3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. GEN 3:4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: GEN 3:5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. GEN 3:6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 1CH 21:1. And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. 1CH 21:2. And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it. 1CH 21:3. And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel? 1CH 21:7. And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel. 1CH 21:8. And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly. MAT 4:3. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. MAT 4:4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. MAT 4:5. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, MAT 4:6. And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. MAT 4:7. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. MAT 4:8. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; MAT 4:9. And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 1COR 7:5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. LUK 4:1. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, LUK 4:2. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. LUK 4:3. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. LUK 4:4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. LUK 4:5. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. LUK 4:6. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. LUK 4:7. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. LUK 4:8. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. LUK 4:9. And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: LUK 4:10. For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: LUK 4:11. And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. LUK 4:12. And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. LUK 4:13. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. B. The devil is the accuser like a prosecuting attorney:REV 12:10. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. JOB 1:6. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. C. Jesus is our advocate like a defense attorney:JO1 2:1. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ROM 8:34. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. HEB 9:24. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: |
