A. Private prayer:MAT 6:6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. MAR 1:35. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. MAR 6:46. And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. LUK 5:16. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. B. United prayer:MAT 18:19. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. MAT 18:20. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. ACT 1:13. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. ACT 1:14. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. ACT 1:15. And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) ACT 4:23. And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. ACT 4:24. And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: ACT 4:25. Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ACT 4:26. The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. ACT 4:27. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ACT 4:28. For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. ACT 4:29. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, ACT 4:30. By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. ACT 4:31. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. ACT 12:12. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. C. "Watching" in prayer:1SA 15:11. It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. MAT 26:40. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? MAT 26:41. Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. LUK 6:12. And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. ACT 12:5. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. EPH 6:18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. |
