A. Jesus mediates & prays for us:ROM 8:34. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. HEB 7:25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. LUK 22:32. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. JOH 17:9. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. B. The Holy Spirit prays for us:ROM 8:26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ROM 8:27. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. C. Be thankful to the Lord for answering prayer:PSA 116:1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. PSA 116:2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. PSA 116:7. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. PSA 30:1. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. PSA 30:2. O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. PSA 30:3. O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. PSA 30:4. Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. PSA 66:16. Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. PSA 66:17. I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. PSA 66:19. But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. PSA 66:20. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me. D. Prayer is precious:PSA 141:2. Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. PRO 15:8. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. REV 5:8. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. REV 8:3. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. E. Giving thanks before eating:1SA 9:13. As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him. MAT 14:19. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. MAT 26:26. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. MAR 8:6. And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. ACT 27:35. And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. 1TIM 4:3. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 1TIM 4:4. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 1TIM 4:5. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. |
