Our Relationship With the Lord

1. We worship the Lord by loving Him:

A. We are to love the Lord with all our heart:

DEU 6:5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

DEU 10:12. And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

MAT 22:37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

MAT 22:38. This is the first and great commandment.

DEU 30:6. And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

DEU 30:20. That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

JOSH 22:5. But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

JOSH 23:11. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.

B. Our souls should thirst for God:

PSA 42:1. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

PSA 42:2. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

PSA 63:1. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

PSA 143:6. I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

MAT 5:6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

JOH 4:10. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

JOH 4:14. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

C. We should greatly desire Him:

PSA 27:4. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

PSA 16:8. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

PSA 63:8. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

PSA 84:2. My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

ISA 26:9. With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

D. We are to desire Him above all else:

PSA 73:25. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

ISA 26:8. Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

E. We are to worship Jesus as we worship God:

JOH 5:23. That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

PHI 2:9. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

PHI 2:10. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

PHI 2:11. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

COL 1:18. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

1JOH 5:1. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

F. Why we love & worship Jesus:

1JOH 3:16. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1JOH 4:19. We love him, because he first loved us.

REV 5:8. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

REV 5:9. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

REV 5:10. And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

REV 5:11. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

REV 5:12. Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

REV 5:13. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

1JOH 2:23. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

1JOH 4:15. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
