5. Resting in the Lord:
PreviousNext

A. The Bible instructs us to rest in the Lord:

PSA 37:7. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

HEB 4:3. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

HEB 4:9. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

B. Take time to sit at Jesus' feet:

LUK 10:38. Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

LUK 10:39. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

LUK 10:40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

LUK 10:41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

LUK 10:42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

C. Cast your burdens & worries on the Lord:

PSA 55:22. Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

MAT 11:28. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

MAT 11:29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

MAT 11:30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

1PE 5:7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

D. Quietly meditate on God's power:

GEN 24:63. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

JOB 37:14. Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

PSA 46:10. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

1TH 4:11. And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

E. Be humble before Him:

1KI 3:7. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

ISA 57:15. For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

MIC 6:8. He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
