A. Be a good example:MAT 5:16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ROM 13:3. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 1TH 5:22. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1TIM 4:12. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1PE 2:13. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 1PE 2:14. Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 1PE 2:15. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: LUK 6:27. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, B. We are commanded to be honest in our dealings:ROM 12:17. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 2COR 8:21. Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. 1TH 4:12. That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. TIT 2:10. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 1PE 2:12. Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. ROM 13:13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. HEB 13:18. Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. C. Do not bring reproach upon the cause of Christ:ROM 14:16. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 2COR 6:3. Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 1TIM 5:14. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. ROM 2:23. Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? ROM 2:24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. 1TIM 6:1. Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. TIT 2:5. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. D. Be blameless & innocent:MAT 10:16. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. PHI 2:15. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; TIT 1:6. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. E. Don't let your liberties become a stumbling block to others:ROM 14:13. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. ROM 14:14. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. ROM 14:15. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. ROM 14:16. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: ROM 14:17. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. ROM 14:18. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. ROM 14:19. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. ROM 14:20. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. ROM 14:21. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 1COR 6:12. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1COR 8:8. But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. 1COR 8:9. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. 1COR 8:10. For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 1COR 8:11. And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 1COR 8:12. But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 1COR 8:13. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. 1PE 2:16. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. |
