1. God's strength vs. your strength:
PreviousNext

A. God is infinitely more powerful than weak man:

PSA 8:3. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

PSA 8:4. What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

ISA 40:15. Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

ISA 40:17. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

ISA 40:22. It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

DAN 4:35. And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

1COR 1:25. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

2CH 20:6. And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

PSA 89:6. For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

B. An honest view of man & his strength:

JOB 14:1. Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

JOB 14:2. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

JOB 7:1. Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

ISA 40:6. The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

ISA 40:7. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

ISA 40:8. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

1PE 1:24. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

JOB 8:9. (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

PSA 39:5. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

PSA 39:6. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
