GEN 21:9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. GEN 21:10. Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. GEN 21:11. And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. GEN 26:34. And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: GEN 26:35. Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah. EXO 4:10. NUM 11:14. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. JDG 6:14. And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? JDG 6:15. And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. RTH 1:12. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. 1KI 19:1. And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. 1KI 19:2. PSA 6:6. I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. PSA 6:7. Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee. PSA 102:2. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. PSA 102:3. For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. PSA 102:4. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. PSA 102:5. By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. PSA 102:6. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. PSA 102:7. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top. PSA 102:8. Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me. PSA 69:16. Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. PSA 69:17. And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. PSA 69:18. Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies. PSA 69:19. Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee. PSA 69:20. Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. JER 15:10. Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. JON 3:4. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. JON 3:5. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. JON 3:10. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. JON 4:1. But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. JON 4:2. And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. JON 4:3. Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live. JON 4:4. Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? JON 4:5. So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. JON 4:6. And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. JON 4:7. But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. JON 4:8. And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. JON 4:9. And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. LUK 10:40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. JOH 21:17. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 2CO 1:8. For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 2CO 4:8. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 2CO 7:5. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. ISA 53:3. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ISA 53:4. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ISA 53:5. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ISA 53:6. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. ISA 53:7. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. ISA 53:8. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. ISA 53:9. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. |
