Witnessing

9. A winning personal example:

A. Your personal example is part of your witness:

MAT 5:16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

PHI 2:15. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

PHI 2:16. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

1TIM 4:12. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

2COR 3:2. Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

TIT 2:7. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

TIT 2:8. Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

1PE 3:1. Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

1PE 3:2. While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

1TIM 5:14. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

JOH 13:35. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

B. Sample of happiness is appealing:

PSA 51:12. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

PSA 51:13. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

C. Lovingly win others not by arguing:

1TH 1:7. So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

1TH 1:8. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

2TIM 2:23. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

2TIM 2:24. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

1COR 13:1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

1COR 13:2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

1COR 13:8. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

D. Personal example must back up your witness:

JOH 13:15. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

ROM 2:21. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

ROM 2:22. Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

ROM 2:23. Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

ROM 2:24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

1COR 11:1. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1TIM 6:1. Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

TIT 2:4. That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

TIT 2:5. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
