A. Feed on it for it is our spiritual food:PSA 119:103. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! JOB 23:12. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. JER 15:16. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. MAT 4:4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 1PE 2:2. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: B. Teach the Word to our children:DEU 6:7. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. DEU 11:19. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. PSA 78:1. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. PSA 78:2. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: PSA 78:3. Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. PSA 78:4. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. PSA 78:5. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: PSA 78:6. That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: PSA 78:7. That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: PSA 78:8. And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God. 2TIM 3:15. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. C. Teach milk to babes & meat to the mature:HEB 5:13. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. HEB 5:14. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. 1COR 3:1. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 1COR 3:2. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. HEB 6:1. Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, HEB 6:2. Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. HEB 6:3. And this will we do, if God permit. 2TIM 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. JOH 16:12. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. D. Love the Word & let it dwell in our hearts:DEU 6:6. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: DEU 6:7. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. DEU 11:18. Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. PSA 40:8. I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. PSA 119:20. My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. PSA 119:40. Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness. PSA 119:47. And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. PSA 119:48. My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes. PSA 119:113. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. PSA 119:140. Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it. PSA 119:159. Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness. PSA 119:163. I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love. PSA 119:72. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. PSA 119:97. O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the day. PSA 119:127. Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. PSA 119:131. I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments. PSA 119:162. I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. 1TIM 4:15. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. ISA 51:7. Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. E. Study the Word & search the Scriptures:JOH 5:39. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. ACT 17:11. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 1TIM 4:16. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. 2TIM 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. F. Answer questions & witness with the Word:PSA 119:42. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word. PRO 22:20. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, PRO 22:21. That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee? PHI 2:15. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; PHI 2:16. Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. TIT 1:9. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 1PE 3:15. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1PE 4:11. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. G. Teach & preach the Word:PSA 68:11. The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. JER 23:28. The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. HAB 2:2. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. MAT 28:20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen ACT 8:25. And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. ACT 18:11. And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. 1COR 2:4. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1COR 2:13. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 2TIM 4:2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. JOH 12:49. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. JOH 14:10. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. JOH 14:24.
